This tutorial explains how to replace the key fob battery in Volvo V40 (2012 – on), Volvo S80 (2006 – 2016), Volvo V70 and XC70 (2007 – 2016), S60 and V60 (2010 – on) and XC60 (2008 – on) with one of the key fob styles pictured below (A is the normal remote fob, B is the optional PCC – Personal Car Communicator remote fob).
If the “>Car key battery low See manual” message shows up in the instrument panel of your Volvo, you need to replace the battery of your remote fob.
- new CR2430 3 V battery (two batterys if you have the optional PCC remote fob – marked B in the top image) [insert_php]$link_name =’pilhas_cr2430_link’; $FileLocation = “/inclds/insert_amz_ass.php”;include($_SERVER[“DOCUMENT_ROOT”].$FileLocation);[/insert_php]
- small screw driver
In order to replace it, follow the steps:
Step 1: Slide the spring-loaded catch to the side (marked A in the image below), and at the same time pull the key blade out of the fob (marked B).
Step 2: Insert a small screwdriver in the hole behind the spring-loaded catch and gently prize the remote control back cover up
Step 3: You’ll now see the battery slot in the back of the cover you have just removed. Remove the old batteries, making note of their orientation, and replace with new ones.
Step 4: Re-install the back cover onto the remote fob, and after it the key blade.
Battery orientation is the following:
- Standard remote fob (marked A in the first image): One battery with the (+) side down.
- PCC remote fob (marked B in the first image): First battery with the (+) side up, then white plastic tab in between, and finally the second new battery with the (+) side down.
