Step 1. The camshaft sensor is located after the distributor on the top left side of the engine. To gain access to the camshaft position sensor you’ll need to remove the air filter box cover (Follow this instructions on how to remove air filter box in Volvo 850 / S70 / V70 / C70). Once it’s removed, you’ll see the sensor on the side of the block

Step 2. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor. Follow the camshaft psoition sensor cable until you found the connector. Once you’ve found it, press the metal spring (it’s facing down) on the black plug and push it forwards the front of the car disconnecting it.

Step 3. With the plug out, use a flat screwdriver to release the connector metal support from the engine. Insert the screwdriver between the two metal tabs and rotate it to release the support.

Step 4. Now, with a T40 Torx bit remove the two screws holding the sensor in place and remove the sensor from the engine.

Note that the lower screw also holds the vacuum hoses metal holder. Be sure to carefully place it when re-installing.

Step 5. With the old and the new sensor side by side, remove the connector metal support from the old one, and install it on the new one.
