Follow this guidelines to remove replace the front strut on your Volvo S40 or V40 (1996 to 2004)
To remove:
1. Raise the car and remove the front wheel.
2. Remove the clamp and brake hose from the bracket (A)
3. Remove the ABS cable from the bracket
4. Remove the anti-roll bar link from the spring strut (B)
5. Remove both screws from the stub axle (C)
6. Remove the stub axle from the spring strut
7. Remove the three nuts from the top of the spring strut. (D)
8. Remove the strut from the car.
To install:
1. Install the strut in the car and tighten the three top nuts by hand.
2. Install the two screws to the stub axle and tighten to 90Nm.
3. Install the link to the anti-roll bar, tighten to 45Nm.
4. Install the brake hose and ABS cable into the brackets.
5. Tighten the 3 top nuts to 40Nm each.
6. Install the wheel.
